Bauchi state is one of the northern states blessed with educated people who are holding the highest offices in Nigeria. Bauchi state was regarded as the most famous state in Nigeria. Its son, the late Alhaji Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, was the first prime minister of Nigeria. The collapse of education in Bauchi state has become worrisome.

Bauchi state has lost its glory in the education sector as children of the poor lack access to good education in the state. The policy of this current administration of Governor Bala Mohammed on education is not helpful. Instead of employing more teachers, the government is few in the state. The government has refused to provide teaching aids, good salaries, and allowances to make the teachers efficient yet they are being sacked.

Former South African President Nelson Mandela once said, “Without education, your children can never really meet the challenges they face. So it is vital to educate children and expect that they should play a role in their country. Education is the only weapon which you can use to change the world”.

The policy of former Governor Isah Yuguda on the education sector was effective. He supplied over 500, 000 textbooks to primary and secondary schools across the state and awarded scholarships to many students to reduce the level of illiteracy in the state.

There is, therefore the need for the government to renovate our schools or build new ones, provide reading materials like textbooks, writing materials, and above all good furniture in our classes.

I urge the authorities concerned, especially the Bauchi state government and the state Ministry of Education, under the leadership of Hon. Commissioner Ministry of Education, Dr. Jamila Dahiru, to adopt the strategy of Yuguda in the education sector to address the colocolo lapse education action in the Bauchi state.

  1. Writing or speaking on Education does not really lies on the responsibilities of Government alone, it is the primary obligation and rights of children from their parents.
All these would be better only if the Givenrment revive the Educational Sector and supports it like giving grants and scholarships and reviewing the take home pay for teachers so that they can teach with a full stomach.

  2. A good 👍 one. But I believe the reviving of the education in Bauchi state, isn’t only the responsibility of the government. It is the responsibility of everyone who knows the value of education and is ready to move the educational sector to the next level.
